Living with Acromegaly
"Without missing a beat,
my doctor retorted, “Boy Jill, it sure sounds like
rheumatoid arthritis or acromegaly to me. “What’s
acromegaly?” I asked. Little did I know that question
would be answered and revealed to me in every aspect
of my adult life from that day forward."
Getting Past It
"Denial of symptoms prior to diagnosis,
not getting in pictures, sleep apnea, tight shirts, swollen hands
and feet. Supposedly, Liz, Myron’s nurse, told me I looked
Acromegalic and I shined her on. I just don’t remember her
saying anything, or maybe, I just wasn’t listening. Many
people are now saying, “Oh, sure, I knew he had it, or something
was wrong, but they did not say anything to me.” My best
friend, Larry, had his textbook open to the page on Acromegaly
for months, but was afraid to say anything because he feared hurting
my feelings."
