How common is Acromegaly?

The prevalence and incidence of Acromegaly appears to depend to a small degree on geographical location and therefore the figures quoted here are averages derived from limited population studies of this condition.

Prevalence figures are in the range of 40 to 70 cases per 100,000 of the adult population.

The annual incidence of Acromegaly is about 3 to 4 new cases per 100,000 of the adult population.

Prevalence in Men and Women

This condition is equally prevalent in both men and women.

At what age does it occur?

It can occur at any age but most commonly between 20-50 years.
